Record Albums Live On
Vinyl records don’t seem to want to go away. According to the Record Industry of America, the sale of vinyl actually grew 37 % in 2006 as opposed to CD’s which dropped 17%. Nice Music is the place where all the other second-hand record stores go to clear out their stock (and buy?). Dan Hadley, the owner distributed records for 11 years and then finally opened up to the public last year.
You could buy 4 or 5 good used records for what it cost to buy a new one. In fact, of the 40,000 records stocked here, only 5,000 cost more than $1. Hadley has a sense of humor with his slogan “Death by Vinyl” and a “Wall of Shame” – six stacked shelves of unsorted vinyl which he sells by the kilo (works out to about $.23 a record).
