Shopping Green
On Wednesday morning Nov 19th at 8:40 am, I will be talking with Dave Fisher on CJAD 800 AM about green shopping in Montreal. Green shopping is easy here and encompassing a few concepts. Firstly, buying from local manufacturers helps the city and does not add to green house emissions due to lack of shipping. We have so many kinds of companies that sell: clothing, sofa-beds, paint, linens, cribs, cardboard boxes, gift wrap, plaster moulding, and on and on.
Secondly recycling items that have already been produced is helpful so shop in 2nd-hand stores. A few (Folle Guenille, Pre-Loved) create new clothing out of previously owned clothing. You can buy household things at Eco Reno which is part of the ecological hardware movement old doors, windows, mouldings, bathtubs, plumbing parts.
Thirdly, shop at local stores so you keep your neighbors in business. This includes our wonderful farmers’ markets.
My book Smart Shopping Montreal covers all of those stores and 1500 more. You can buy it right here on the site.
