Q&A: Donating Clothing to a Good Cause
Q: I live in Montreal and have several items (suits, shirts, blouses, slacks) of used women’s professional attire that I would like donate to a group in need. I’ve tried looking for info on women’s shelters, support groups, etc… but could not find anything. Do you have any recommendations?
A: Two groups that do wonderful work in the community and accept used clothing, are:
Thrift Shop for Nova: 2750 boul. St-Charles Tel: 514-697-6692. NOVA West Island is a charitable foundation that offers home palliative care, cancer support groups, and runs 4 adult day centers for the elderly, all without government funding. www.thriftshopsfornova.com
La Boutique du Welcome Hall Mission, 4755B Acorn, Tel: 514-523-5288 x149: It’s good to give back to this hard-working charity, as all funds go directly back into Mission services. Their store offers their clients the dignity of a shopping experience, and serves also as a training ground for participants in their work programs. www.welcomehallmission.com
