Q: I have a color television RCA 13¨ in silver that I bought in 1995 which I want to sell for $10. (remote control included, all functional) – Do you know where I should address my request to sell my TV?

A: It is extremely hard to sell an old TV. In the Second-hand section of my book, there are 2nd-hand shops which you can call. But for $10, just put it up on Kijiji or give it away to Thrift Shop for Nova, 514-697-6692 (a favorite ofd mine because all the money goes to home nursing), Mada 514-342-4649, Armee du Salut or Fripe-Prix Renaissance.

Q: I caught you on the radio a few days ago talking about buying second hand electronics such as computers and portable ones. As I was in the car, I could not jot down the address or name of the company. The only thing I recall was that it is on Begin street. Can you please provide me with the address and name. Thank you.

A: The last time I was there, there were are a couple of shops on Begin, Ville St-Laurent: Here’s 2: Info Quebec, 1437 Begin or PC Depot, 1330 Begin. They seem to change names and move a bit from door to door, but there always seems to be someone there selling used equipment.

Q: I have quite a range of personally used, but top quality (Daks, Warren K.Cook, Holt Renfrew etc.) suits and overcoats for sale. Could you please advise me what places might be interested to buy,or sell on consignment. Many thanks.

In my Smart Shopping Montreal book although there are 6 pages of  consignment shops, most are for women. There are about 1/2 dozen in there which sell clothing for  men. Each one buys for a specific customer and has different buying patterns. You would have to look in the book and call each one to see if they want the labels and sizes you wish to sell. Some take retro, some only designer and most take only clothes from the last 2 or 3 years.

The South Shore University Women’s Club will be holding their 40th Annual Book Sale. The funds for this sale are used for scholarships for students at CEGEP and university level.

This is a good moment to clear your shelves and cupboards of unwanted books and give them to a good cause. It’s also a great time to start a library or find inexpensive summer reading. There are thousands of books to choose from in English and French. They’re nearly new and used.

Q: I have several formal gowns which I’d like to sell. They were worn once or twice. Where do I go to sell them ?

A: A: In my Smart Shopping Montreal book there are 10 pages of shops that sell (and buy) used clothing. However, hardly anyone is wearing gowns these days. Mostly they are wearing cocktail dresses – even to weddings. You’d have to call around and find one that may want to buy gowns and wants your labels and size. They usually like newer styles when they buy.

Still going strong after 55 years, this pretty townhouse is fully stocked with relatively new, excellent quality clothes with lots of big-name labels (Gucci, Moschino, Armani, Versace, Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Issey Miyake, Yamamoto).

Besides the everyday clothing, expect to find lots of formal wear, coats, bags (Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Hermes, Cartier), hats, furs, leathers, shoes, Hermes scarves and even estate jewelry.

Look for the same quality clothes for men (Armani, Hugo Boss, Brioni, Prada) in suits, trench coats, shoes and tuxedos.
