Everything for Chanukah
Rodal’s has been, for the past 60 or so years, the go-to store for anything Jewish. Today it is a mixture of Old World and fun items, with a bit of artistry thrown in. So yes, you can get a traditional satin kippah, or a knit one, suede, velvet, baby size or one with drawings, but also artist hand-crafted fused glass signed serving platters. There’s tefillin and tallesim, of course, (and even some for women!).
Objects for traditional needs line the walls, such as wine cups, challah knives and platters, pitchers, torah pointers, shabbat candlesticks, shofars and hundreds of mezuzahs ($.99 – $250) which come in metal, glass, stone, wood and silver.
Artists have created some of these items. Gary Rosenthal’s fused glass and metal mezuzahs, menorahs and tzedakah boxes can be bought, along with some by Sara Baames. Anat Mayer’s signed laser cut aluminum candlesticks, mezuzahs, knives and serving platters are here along with challah covers handprinted by artisans.
Kids can settle in in the rear at the table and chairs and watch a DVD. They can shop for toys – plush torahs, aleph bet rulers, wooden puzzles or “Dance with Uncle Moishy” CD’s.
If you are looking for Jewish wall art, home blessings, all kinds of Jewish music, Israeli movies, Israeli flags, aleph bet ice cube molds, they’re all here – where else would you find the kugelach toy?
And we musn’t forget the wall of books: benchers, Chabad, siddur, tehillim, Mussar, ethics, mitzvat, halacha, history, Israel, prophets, torah, commentaries, parenting, marriage, Jewish life cycle, kabbalah, chassidus Tanya, fiction and young adult.
Along with helpful customer service, there’s free gift wrapping, and delivery on the island is only $5.
