1) How can I decide where to go to?
Put your feet up at look through the Publi Sacs. Sit comfortably at home to make your lists by checking which store has more of what you need. Bureau en Gros is a office supply store so they have the most selection and the most quantity. Jean Coutu and pharmacies have some great loss leaders.
2) Should I buy the whole list now or wait for during the year to refill?
This is THE moment to stock up for home or office as prices are the lowest now. Get glue for the year, scotch tape, 1000 sheets of binder paper. This way you won’t have to run out in the middle of the winter for a report cover. If you have any left over, you have stock to start next year. It really never goes to waste.
3) How do I know if it’s a good price?
If there’s a limit on the quantity you can buy, it’s usually a great price. If the photo is really big on the front or back cover of the flyer, it usually indicates an excellent deal.
In the past, Bureau en Gros’s policy was that they will not be undersold. Bring your flyer from other stores and they will meet the price.
4) What about backpacks, any advice here?
If you want backpacks to be long lasting, buy them at a camping store or an army-navy store, or even the Boy Scout store. Ask which ones have warranties – some had lifetime warranties. You just drop it off or mail it and it gets fixed for free.
These better made sacs (World Famous, Eureka, Trek) are balanced bags so they are better for the body. The back straps are cushioned for comfort and they are straps across bottom to distribute the weight.
Fabrics are waterproof and strong. Zippers are tough and there’s reinforced stitching. Often they may have detachable parts so they can be used in different ways.
Some stores for quality backpacks: Scouts Canada (267 ave Dorval), Canam (1423 boul. St-Laurent), International Surplus (1411 boul. St-Laurent) , Surplus, St-Laurent (1611 boul. St-Laurent), Mountain Equipment Co-op (8989 boul. l’Acadie, 4869 boul. Taschereau), La Cordee (2159 Ste-Catherine est)
