100 Years Young
How many stores in the city have managed to last 100 years? A century ago Omer de Serres as a young man of 27 bought an ironworks business. In 1913 he turned it into a hardware store which was on the corner of St. Denis and Ste. Catherine St. With an art school nearby, the business gradually moved into selling art supplies. Today Marc DeSerres, his grandson runs the company, now with 26 stores across Canada. For their special anniversary, there are great sales throughout the store on paint, brushes, easels, beads, scrapbooking supplies, kid’s crafts and much much more. www.serres.ca
