You’re in the same bed, but since you each have your own mattress, you can choose a comfort level that you each prefer. Most importantly, the other person’s movements don’t affect your sleep.
The most important thing to do when buying a new mattress is for both of the people who will be sleeping on it to go try it out, since it must be comfortable to each of you. You will not know how it feels for a whole night if you don’t lie on it for a while. When you do try it out, don’t do it for only five seconds. Plan to spend the afternoon and lie down for ten minutes or so – bring a book and your teddy bear.
