Where to Buy a Cotton Handkerchief

Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

Winter brings on more cold and flu and there may be some of you out there that would like to have a soft elegant cotton handkerchief to blow your nose. You would find some at Lingerie Pina & Carmelo Sacco. The name clearly does not define this business.

Yes, you will eventually bump into some girdles, but you first will hit silverware, china (there’s a bridal registry), toasters, meat slicers, “ecological” cookware by Cool Kitchen, bedding, coats, christening robes, crib sets and baby clothes, men’s clothing, carpet runners by the yard and housecoats.

Designers are here to help you with curtains (free installation), and they have the exclusive Hunter Douglas Alustra line with copper and chrome headers. Those who like collectibles will find: Precious Moments, Walt Disney Collection and Disney Traditions by Jim Shore. The Italian community knows to come here for Pizzel machines for cookies and Cavetelli machines for gnocchi. And yes you will be able to buy cotton handkerchiefs.

Time to Check your Credit Score

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

I hope you did not max out your credit cards in December. The new year is a time to take a look at just where you stand in terms of your credit rating. It is scary to write this but most Canadians (63%) have never checked their rating – and one quarter of you don’t even know what a credit rating is.

One in five Canadians have been denied a loan because of their rating – which they might not have even know about. This rating affects your ability to rent an apartment, buy a home, get a loan or get a new credit card.

You are entitled to know this information about yourself. Besides just checking to see what is there, you have the ability to correct incorrect information. You can check it by free by mail or in person but online it costs $15.

The two major companies that do this type of work are:
Trans Union Canada (www.tuc.ca)
Equifax Canada (www.equifax.ca)
